The Major League Baseball offseason has been one for the books thus far as the loaded free agent class has begun signing with new teams for the 2025 season.

The free agent class is loaded with top-end talent at many different positions, including Juan Soto, Corbin Burnes, Max Fried, and Alex Bregman.

One pitcher who remains unsigned to this point is Roki Sasaki, who is coming over to the MLB from Japan as a free agent.

MLB Insider Jon Heyman revealed who he believes are the two favorites to land Sasaki this offseason.

“I’m believing the teams here are the Dodgers and the Padres,” Heyman said via B/R Walk-Off on ‘X.’

The young pitcher is believed to have an electric arm and has caught the attention of many MLB teams, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, New York Mets, and New York Yankees.

In 2024, with his overseas team, Sasaki pitched in 18 games and held a record of 10-5 with a 2.35 ERA and 129 strikeouts in 111.0 innings pitched.

While many teams are reportedly interested in Sasaki, Heyman believes that the Dodgers or the Padres will sign the starting pitcher.

The Dodgers have been mentioned as favorites to sign Sasaki for the majority of the offseason, but the Padres and fellow Japanese starting pitcher Yu Darvish could be appealing to Sasaki.

Sasaki will be a free agent to watch in the coming weeks to see where he ends up for the 2025 season.
