The New York Mets made the postseason in 2024 after finishing in second place in the National League East with a record of 89-73.

After sneaking into the playoffs via a wild-card spot, the Mets made a shocking postseason run to the National League Division Series after defeating the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers.

The Mets then took this offseason by storm and signed the top free agent Juan Soto to a 15-year deal worth $765 million.

MLB Analyst A.J. Pierzynski revealed that the MLB needs to watch out for the Mets in 2025.

“For me, because the Phillies lost to the Mets and the Mets beat the Phillies, the Mets are going to try and take the next step,” Pierzynski said via Foul Territory on ‘X.’

Pierzynski mentions that Mets’ owner Steve Cohen got a taste of winning in 2024 and went out and signed Soto this offseason in an attempt to win it all next season.

Along with Soto, some other signings by the Mets this offseason included adding relief pitcher Clay Holmes, right-handed starting pitcher Frankie Montas, and outfielder Jose Siri.

The Mets haven’t won an NL East title since 2015, but Pierzynski believes that since the Mets beat the Phillies in the postseason, they could have a leg up on the Phillies in 2025.

Although the Mets haven’t won a World Series title since 1986, the addition of Soto and company will give them their best chance to win a title in recent years.

The Mets will be a team to keep an eye on as the postseason progresses to see if they pursue even more talent before the 2025 season.
