Analyst Reveals Why He Likes The One-Year Deal Walker Buehler Signed
The Major League Baseball offseason has not slowed down in excitement even after the top free agent Juan Soto signed with the New York Mets.
More and more moves are being made seemingly each day, with the Boston Red Sox making some splash moves in their starting rotation.
The Red Sox traded for starting pitcher Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox earlier this offseason, and they made another starting pitcher acquisition on Monday.
Walker Buehler from the Los Angeles Dodgers signed a reported one-year deal with the Red Sox.
MLB Analyst Chris Cotillo revealed why he likes the move by Buehler to sign a one-year deal.
“This is about hitting the market next year and maybe getting a mega-deal done,” Cotillo said via Foul Territory on ‘X.’

Buehler signed a one-year deal with the Red Sox and will be getting $21.05 million in the 2025 season.
Cotillo likes that Buehler signed only a one-year deal because if he can perform well, he could potentially get a substantially larger deal the following offseason.
Buehler will remain on a big market team after going to the Red Sox from the Dodgers, and Cotillo believes some pressure will be taken off due to the presence of Crochet as the ace of the staff.
In 2024 with the Dodgers, Buehler started 16 games where he held a record of 1-6 with a 5.38 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 75.1 innings pitched.
If Buehler can replicate his 2021 season where he started 33 games and had a 2.47 ERA, then he could possibly sign a huge contract come next offseason.
