Fans React To Phillies’ Big Trade With Marlins On Sunday
The Philadelphia Phillies made the postseason for the third consecutive season in 2024 after winning the National League East with a record of 95-67.
Although the Phillies lost in the National League Division Series, a division title can be seen as a successful season even if they wanted to make a deeper postseason run.
The Phillies have been relatively quiet in the offseason, but they completed a trade with the Miami Marlins on Sunday.
According to MLB on ‘X,’ the Phillies acquired left-handed starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo from the Marlins in exchange for shortstop Starlyn Caba and outfielder Emaarion Boyd.

This trade could be a significant boost for the Phillies' rotation

While some fans don’t like the trade, the majority of reactions appear positive and that Luzardo will be a boost for the Phillies’ starting rotation next season.
Luzardo is 27 years old and came into the league in 2019 with the Oakland Athletics where he played until 2021 before going to the Marlins.
After battling some injuries in 2024, Luzardo started 12 games for the Marlins and had a record of 3-6 with a 5.00 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 66.2 innings pitched.
Injuries may have impacted Luzardo in 2024, but his 2023 season was more impressive when he was fully healthy.
In 2023 with the Marlins, Luzardo started 32 games and had a record of 10-10 with a 3.58 ERA and 208 strikeouts in 178.1 innings pitched.
The Phillies will hope to keep Luzardo healthy in 2025 so he can help their starting rotation, especially in the postseason.
Luzardo and the Phillies will attempt to win their first World Series title since 2008.
